Music to Level Up Your Day: A Requiem for Innocence

Image
I don't know much about musical theory, nor am I a musically inclined person. However, I do love to listen to video game soundtracks. Who doesn't? They can be a powerful listening experience in their own right, or be as evocative as the scores composed for film. Each of these posts will feature music tracks from a single game title, or series/franchise in some rare cases. Composers: Mellok'n, Yusuke Tsutsumi, Takaki Moriya, Aikawa Razuna Singer: Gao North American Release Date: May 2019 A spirit with amnesia is guided through a mansion by the "Maid". The two view the mansion's one thousand year past – 1099, 1603, 1707, 1869 and present, to learn what has happened to its residents. The spirit gradually starts to regain its lost memories as it relieves the tragedies of the past. Dungeons & Dragons (2000) Film: Let Their Blood Rain From The Sky!

Image
Dungeons & Dragons is a 2000 American film loosely based on the Mystara setting from the role-playing game of the same name - specifically the second edition (Advanced Dungeons & Dragons). Since the early 1980s, Gary Gygax (D&D co-creator) had reportedly been in discussions with producers and agents about a major feature-length adaptation of the tabletop property, but nothing ever came of it. In 1990, Solomon (film director and D&D player) wrote a 30-page proposal detailing how he would adapt the game. TSR, Inc. eventually agreed, but on-going disagreements between TSR (under Lorraine Williams questionable management at the time) and major studios (including 20th Century Fox and Paramount Pictures) dissolved potential merchandising and distribution deals. Several big-name actors interested in the film also left over disagreements with TSR, at which point Solomon considered dropping the project. In April 1997, TSR sold the rights of the original game property

A Requiem for Innocence Review: Reliving the Past

Image
A Requiem for Innocence acts as a prologue to The House in Fata Morgana. You will want to have played The House in Fata Morgana first to get the most out of A Requiem for Innocence. The story delves into Morgana's past, explaining how she came to be revered as a saint with miraculous healing powers before falling into the hands of the Lord. We get to see how she suffered and degraded in the Lords care until Jacopo rescued her. Morgana and Jacopo's strange relationship is explored in detail as both grow as people. Of course it doesn't last. Jacopo unintentionally becomes the very person he saved Morgana from. Morgana in turn, unintentionally changes from a revered saint to a maligned witch.   We already got to see a good chunk of Morgana's past in the previous game, so I really enjoyed the insight into Jacopo’s past. He seemed like such an irredeemable jerk in The House in Fata Morgana, and to some extent he sorta is, but A Requiem for Innocence helped

10 Best Utility Animals in ARK

Image
Approximately 176 creatures populate the world of Ark, and while most are based on real-world dinosaurs and prehistoric creatures, mythical creatures such as the wyverns and shadowmanes have been added with increasing frequency. With so many real and fictional beasts for the player to tame and ride, I've decided to do a top 10 creatures that I think make the best utility animals. For instances where multiple animals fulfill the same task, but may be easier or more difficult to tame based on the player's level, I cheated a tiny bit and listed both animals in order from easiest to hardest. All creatures on this list are from the base game and the free DLC maps: The Island, The Center, Ragnarok, Valguero, and Crystal Isles.

Atelier Firis Review: A Recipe For Success

Image
An alchemist in-training, Firis, has one year to travel to Reisenburg and take the alchemy exam to become a certified alchemist. If she fails to pass the test, Firis will be forced to return to her home in the underground. The gameplay is split between gathering ingredients, fighting monsters out in the field, and socializing or synthesizing new items at the Atelier (Firis's home). The game introduces a sprawling open world and Firis will need to continuously craft better tools, health items, armor, and weapons to get the most out of it. New skills and recipes are gradually unlocked from experimenting with different items or gathering materials. Alternatively, the player can purchase some recipes with "Idea Points" earned from completing quests. Time management also plays a small role. For the most part, you're allowed to do what you want when you want, until the year deadline is up. The deadline prevented me from staying in one area for too long, and eliminated the

The game soundtrack adopted a more cinematic, orchestral style. Unlike with the original Mass Effect, the composers aimed for a darker and more mature

The Real Life Inspiration Behind 9 Creatues From Subnautica

Subnautica is a game series full of alien wildlife inspired by real world animals. For this list I tried to avoid some of the more obvious ones like Ventgardens being based on jellyfish or Crimson Rays being rays.
