Music to Level Up Your Day: Transistor

I don't know much about musical theory, nor am I a musically inclined person. However, I do love to listen to video game soundtracks. They can be a powerful listening experiences in their own right, or be as evocative as the scores composed for film. Each of these posts will feature a sampling of music tracks from a single game title, or series/franchise in some rare cases.

Composer: Darren Korb

Singer: Ashley Lynn Barrett

North American Release Date: May 2014

Red, a famous singer in a city called Cloudbank, is attacked by the Process, a robotic force commanded by a group known as the Camerata. Red manages to escape and comes into possession of the mysterious Transistor — the great sword-like weapon she was to be assassinated with.

The game's musical style utilized electric guitars, harps, accordions, mandolins, electric piano, and synth pads. An EQ filter was applied over the music during the pause and "TURN" menus to give the tracks a distant, blurred sound.
