Top 5 Favorite Monster Hunter "Monster" Designs

Image
Monster Hunter is one of my favorite video game franchises. The biological creativity is restrained, which lends an air of legitimacy and plausibility to their existence. To keep things simple I will only be using the standard monster versions, no variants or sub-species.   #5: Astalos A spikey wyvern with insect-like wings that hails from any area with heavy vegetation. It can paralyze prey using currents of electricity and reacts aggressively towards any man or beast that enters its territory. #4: Legiana A slim and highly agile bird-like wyvern from the coral highlands, Legiana uses ice to slow its opponents. They are fast and intensely territorial towards anyone invading their airspace. #3: Mizutsune Mizu's flowery design was crafted with beauty in mind. This water-based monster can spray a jet of water from its mouth or produce bubbles that both speed movement and hinder movement when stacked. #2: Barroth This brute from the desert is the complete opposite of Mizu

Music to Level Up Your Day: Echo Night: Beyond

I don't know much about musical theory, nor am I a musically inclined person. However, I do love to listen to video game soundtracks. Who doesn't? They can be a powerful listening experience in their own right, or be as evocative as the scores composed for film. Each of these posts will feature music tracks from a single game title, or series/franchise in some rare cases. Composer: Tsukasa Saitoh and Koichi Suenaga North American Release Date: July 2004 The vessel of a newlywed, off for a honeymoon on the Moon, crashes before reaching the lunar resort destination. Now stranded at a (haunted) abandoned research base, they go in search of their significant other. Each of these posts will feature music tracks from a single game title, or series/franchise in some rare cases. Composer: Toby Fox North American Release Date: September 2015 A child tumbles into an underground kingdom full of monsters and fights or befriends them over the course of their journey to reach the surface. Toby Fox is a self-taught musician and composed most of the tracks with little iteration; the exception being the game's main theme, "Undertale". The music was composed before programming because it helped "decide how the scene should go" . Various leitmotifs are used in many of the tracks, in particular, "Hopes and Dreams" (final boss theme) brings back most of the main

Dead Space: Downfall - Mental Anguish

Dead Space: Downfall is a 2008 American animated prequel film to the video game of the same name, Dead Space. The movie was produced under the supervision of Electronic Arts (game publisher) who provided art assets and allowed a degree of freedom with the narrative and visuals. The animation studio wanted Downfall to be the goriest feature they had made, as it gave them a chance to vent their frustration at having to hold back in their other works. Releasing in the same year as its video game counterpart, Downfall premiered at the Sci-Fi-London film festival and then released as a direct-to-video before receiving a television showing on the Starz Encore channel (owned by Lions Gate Entertainment). By 2019, Downfall had earned $1,655,000 in DVD sales. Opening Song: N/A Credits Song: Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star (by Jason Graves) Spoiler Warning: I am going to give a synopsis of the plot and my opinions at the very end.
