Music to Level Up Your Day: Persona 5
I don't know much about musical theory, nor am I a musically inclined person. However, I do love to listen to video game soundtracks. They can be a powerful listening experiences in their own right, or be as evocative as the scores composed for film. Each of these posts will feature a sampling of music tracks from a single game title, or series/franchise in some rare cases. A complete list of these can be found on the Video Game Music page.
Composer: Shoji Meguro
Singer: Yumi Kawamura and Lyn Inaizumi
Release Date: September 2016
A high school student known by the nickname "Joker" is forced to transfer to a new school in Tokyo after being put on probation for assault. Joker and his friends then became a vigilante group known as the "Phantom Thieves" who can traverse a supernatural realm born from the subconscious desires of humans. In this realm it is possible to steal the malevolent intent from the hearts of individuals using physical manifestations of their psyche known as "Personas".
Meguro had full creative freedom on the soundtrack and over a three-year period produced about 80% of the tracks. Seven tracks were performed in English by Lyn, a jazz and soul music singer.
