Music to Level Up Your Day: Asura's Wrath
I don't know much about musical theory, nor am I a musically inclined person. However, I do love to listen to video game soundtracks. They can be a powerful listening experiences in their own right, or be as evocative as the scores composed for film. Each of these posts will feature a sampling of music tracks from a single game title, or series/franchise in some rare cases. A complete list of these can be found on the Video Game Music page.
Composer: Chikayo Fukuda

Asura is one of eight Guardian Generals who derive their power from human worship, which they use in an eternal war against hostile beings called Gohma. Seeking greater power and true immortality, the other seven Guardian Generals abduct Asura's daughter, murder his wife, and frame Asura for the death of their emperor. After 12,000 years have past, Asura is reborn into the living world to seek vengeance on the Seven Deities.
The composer used a variety of instruments for the soundtrack, including the piano, pan flute, Chinese fiddle, and native percussion. Ethnic vocals were paired with a grand orchestral score for the main lyrical melody and male tenor vocals were added to any tracks meant to represent Asura's building rage. By contrast, the recurring motif for the Seven Deities relies heavily on choral work with some orchestral backing. Preexisting music, such as Antonín Dvořák's Symphony No. 9 in E Minor, was used alongside wild western melodies and rock fusions for the character themes.
